The Fruit of the Spirit

 

The Fruit of the Spirit is the result of the work of the Holy Spirit in sanctification; it is the unmistakable quality of a spiritual life.

 

Facts about the Fruit of the Spirit:

·         The Holy Spirit produces it.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness"

Galatians 5:22 (NKJV)                     

 

·         There is no law against it. 

"Against such there is no law."  Galatians 5:23 (NKJV)

 

·         Pruning increases the fruitfulness.

"Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away;  and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit."   John 15:2 (NKJV)

 

·         Remaining in Christ bears more fruit. 

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."  John 15:5 (NKJV)

 

·         Fruitfulness brings glory to God. 

"By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples."  John 15:8 (NKJV)

 

·         We are appointed to bear fruit. Our fruit should last.

"You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you."

·         We produce fruit through repentance.

"Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance,"  Matthew 3:8 (NKJV)

 

·         We recognize men by their fruit.

"Therefore by their fruits you will know them."  Matthew 7:20 (NKJV)

 

·         By hearing and understanding the word.

"But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."  Matthew 13:23 (NKJV)

 

·         Through a noble and good heart.

"But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience."  Luke 8:15 (NKJV)

 

·         Apart from Jesus we cannot bear fruit.

"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."  John 15:5 (NKJV)

 


The Fruit of the Holy Spirit is:

·         LOVE

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."  John 3:16 (NKJV)

 

·         JOY

"whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory"  1 Peter 1:8 (NKJV)

 

·         PEACE

"There is no peace," says the Lord, "for the wicked."  Isaiah 48:22 (NKJV)

 

·         PATIENCE

"But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing"

James 1:4 (NKJV)

 

·         KINDNESS

"Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy,"  Philippians 2:1 (NKJV)

 

·         GOODNESS

"how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him."  Acts 10:381 (NKJV)

 

·         FAITHFULNESS (confidence)

"Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward."   Hebrews 10:35 (NKJV)

 

·         GENTLENESS (meekness)

"Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth."  Matthew 5:5 (NKJV)

 

·         SELF-CONTROL

·         GOD (Love)

·         ANGELS (Joy)

"Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

·         JESUS CHRIST  (Prince of Peace)

"For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
